Film Screenings at Alliance Française - July 2020

Alliance Française in Dubai has opened its doors since the COVID-19 lockdown and announced a summer program of film screenings.

The screenings will take place in its cinema/auditorium and the same hygiene and safety measures applied by the commercial cinemas in Dubai will be applied at Alliance Française too, including social distancing between the seats and deep cleaning before each screening. Attendees are expected to wear masks too.

The line up includes a mix of classics and recent releases, and there’s something for all ages.

I’m happy there are themes to some of the selections that feel relevant to our current times. The line up includes films paying tribute to caregivers, and films featuring wide open spaces (something many of us are craving in our daily lives). There’s also a tribute to Michel Piccoli who passed away in May.

All the films include English subtitles. The screenings are free for Alliance Française students, AED 25 for Alliance Française members and AED 45 for non-members. You can buy tickets from here, and this is the location map.

The line up can be found here, and I’ve listed them below too and included links to trailers/synopsis for the program targeting adults.

It’s a slow summer of new releases at the cinemas here and across the world and this is a great opportunity to watch contemporary French films and French classics in a cinema space, a rare occurrence to watch classics on the big screen in Dubai.
