RIP Robert Redford

RIP Robert Redford (August 18, 1936 - September 16, 2025)

I enjoyed watching this conversation between Robert Redford and Amy Taubin from 2016 at the Walker Art Center that was part of his film retrospective Robert Redford: Independent/Visionary.

When he was asked about his role in The Candidate (Michael Ritchie, 1972)

“…the idea of how politics can shift integrity. You can start off with a belief of a certain kind, and you think you can take that into the political arena and change things, but you can't. And the power inside, the powers that be are so powerful, you don't know how powerful they are until you try to change them, and you find yourself not only not changing them, but ending up just like them.”
