Music Videos Directed by...David Fincher

I’m starting a new series on the blog featuring music videos directed by filmmakers. It’s been something I’ve been wanting to do for a while, and since it was recently David Fincher’s birthday and I also recently completed watching season 1 and 2 of Mindhunter, I decided to start with him.

Before directing his first feature film, Alien 3, which was released in 1992, David Fincher was directing music videos since 1984. Between then and 2013, he directed more than 50 music videos.

Here are 35 videos he directed and I’ve added at the end of this post a list of all the music videos he directed.

Fincher’s first music video was for Rick Springfield, and since then he’s worked with a variety of singers and bands, some more known than others. His videography includes Paula Abdul, Madonna, Jody Watley, Karen O, Billy Idol, George Michael, Roy Orbison, Michael Jackson, Steve Winwood, Sting, Justin Timberlake, Johnny Hates Jazz, Nine Inch Nails, The Rolling Stones, to name a few.

Lots of these videos are of their time, especially the ones from 1980s and 1990s. My personal favourite by him, and one of my all time favourite music videos is George Michael’s Freedom!, a 1990s classic.
