Emirati Visions: A Conversation on Video Art at OMIC Cultural Hub
On Saturday, September 28, I will be part of a group presentation and discussion titled Emirati Visions: A Conversation on Video Art at OMIC Cultural Hub.
OMIC is a new culture space in Dubai that opened on September 18 and it inlcudes a gallery, cinema, cafe and a space for workshops and talks.
They launched with a group exhibition titled Nothing Unusual, curated by Narges Soleimanzadeh which I included in my list of exhibitions to visit this season, and happy to be invited by Narges to be part of this event on Saturday.
I will show and discuss my video from 2022, A Performance of Valour, and glad to be part of this line up.

A gathering of artists, filmmakers, and curators exploring contemporary perspectives through moving image and dialogue.
Panelists Nujoom Alghanem, Khalil Abdulwahid, Hind Mezaina and Manish Mundra join moderator Valentina della Rocca to discuss their work, followed by an open Q&A.

Nujoom Al Ghanem
Emirati visual artist, poet, and multi-award-winning film director with eleven poetry collections and over twenty films. Represented the UAE at the Venice Biennale in 2017 and 2019.
Khalil Abdulwahid
Contemporary Emirati visual artist spanning painting, video art, and mixed media, trained under the late Hassan Sharif. Work shown in Abu Dhabi, Berlin, and the United States.
Hind Mezaina
Emirati artist, film curator and writer from Dubai. Her interests lie in cinema, cities, visual culture, collective memory and archives. Her work has been exhibited locally and internationally, including Art Dubai, Abu Dhabi Art, Sharjah Biennial 13: Tamawuj, Jameel Arts Centre, Nadežda Petrović Art Gallery, London Short Film Festival, Alternative Film/Video, and Safar Film Festival.
Ali Ettehad
Director, writer, and visual/performing artist. His RAZVARZI series (2007–present) spans video art, installation, performance, and film, rooted in Middle Eastern mysticism and Persian philosophy.
Mohammad Ali Famori
Indian-born Iranian visual artist and curator specializing in video art, glitch aesthetics, and sacred geometry. Curated Iran's first glitch video art group exhibition.
Beatriz Minguez de Molina
Visual artist and architect exploring the relationship between people and nature through image and video. Shown at festivals including FIVA, Bideodromo, and the Granada Film Archive.
