Depeche Mode Singing Enjoy the Silence on top of the World Trade Center in 1990

Today I found out for the first time (thanks to @gabardine on Twitter) there’s a second video for Depeche Mode’s Enjoy the Silence. It is very haunting to watch, especially the end with the aerial view of the two towers.

In 1990, a promotional video for “Enjoy the Silence” was shot by French TV (for the TV Show “Champs-Élysées” with Michel Drucker) with Depeche Mode lip-syncing the song while standing atop the World Trade Center at the WTC rooftop World observatory.

Enjoy the Silence was released on February 5 in 1990, and it is one of my all time favourite songs by one of my favourite bands. A good excuse to share the video directed by Anton Corbijn.
