The Poeticians is a group of writers, readers, listeners and word warriors that have come together to share their work, thoughts, ambitions and fears with small intimate audiences in Beirut, Amman and Dubai. The poets come from all walks of life and read in English, Arabic and French. The group is an elastic entity, with no rules, no boundaries, no censorship, no membership system or structure.

Run by Hind Shoufani, a filmmaker and a writer, Poeticians was established in 2007, the Dubai sessions started in December 2009 and their 3rd installment is happening on 2nd March. The theme for this session is love and desire.

I've been to the first two sessions and enjoyed them a lot. They covered life, death, politics, heartbreak, loss and even some humour. Hearing poetry read out loud is so much better than reading it. So I do strongly recommend you attend this one.
