Loaded - Just Good Music: Madchester Special

Loaded - Just Good Music, a monthly night dedicated indie, electro and some good ol' fashion rock and roll is back after taking a summer break in August. But in September, we will be treated to not one, but two nights - on the first and last Friday.

To celebrate the news that Loaded DJs Da:Funct and Just Some Kid will be opening for Beady Eye (Liam Gallagher's new band) in Abu Dhabi on 16th September - on Friday, 2nd September, the Loaded DJs will be dedicating the night to Manchester's musical history. In keeping with the Madchester theme, the legendary film 24 Hour Party People which details the rise and fall of Factory Records will be shown on the big-screen projector.

Madchester: A defining music scene that emerged in Manchester, UK, in the late 80s and 90s. A mix of alternative rock and the fast emerging acid-house sound, it spawned generation defining bands like New Order, Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets, 808 State, A Guy Called Gerald, The Charlatans and hundreds more, and also gave the world the Hacienda - one of the most famous and revered clubs in the world. The sound has also inspired the following acts: Oasis, Beady Eye, Reverend Black Grape, Ian Brown, The Smiths, Clint Boon, James, The Farm, Mock Turtles, Joy Division and lots lots more, and is partly responsible for the rise of the huge indie-electro and nu-rave scenes.

I'm super psyched about this, because my favourite band  is from Manchester. Can you guess which one?* I leave you with a random selection of my favourite songs from the 'Madchester' scene. Spread the word and see you on the dance floor.
