Art Dubai 2010

James Clar, For You Anything, 2010. Medical X-Rays, Acrylic, FL Tubes

The 4th edition of Art Dubai starts this week, between 17th-20th March. Over 70 galleries from 30 countries will be taking part, plus a line up of events including the Global Art Forum, the Abraaj Capital Art Prize and special projects curated by Bidoun Projects will be part of the schedule this year.

One can feel a bit 'arted-out' after this event, because there is a lot to see and do. But I am looking forward to seeing some new local and international art, especially Dubai's art and design gallery Traffic's debut at Art Dubai which will exhibit new work by James Clar. I can't wait to see 'For you Anything' in person (pictured above).

The Bidoun Lounge always host some of the most interesting and left-field sessions and I am looking forward to the talk with Kenny Goldsmith founder of Ubu Web, The Big Idea a ‘pitching forum’ for artists, designers and architects from the UAE and beyond, but most of all, I am looking forward to meeting writer and artist, Sophia Al-Maria who has been delightfully entertaining me through her blog for the past few months. She will run a tour called 'Sci-Fi Wahabi: Take a tour from the future at Art Dubai 2010'.
